Land Use Scanner, Training Edition Suriname




For a Training on Land Use Modelling an the use of the Land Use Scanner, a Training Edition with data from Suriname was developed and used, based on the configuration of the project: Suriname New Infrastructure.

As a part of the training, the weigths of suitability factors were provided by and discussed with the participants. The resulting configuration (including these weights), data and software is available as Land Use Scanner Training Edition in the Download Section of this article.

Downloads and Installation

The Suriname Training Edition is available as zip file and can be downloaded here. This zip file contains the GeoDMS setup software (version 7.028, Win32), the model configuration and the source data.

After downloading:

1. Extract the GeoDMS software Setup file from the Setup folder in the zip file and run this setup to install the GeoDMS software.If needed, see also Installation Instructions for how to install the GeoDMS software.

2. Extract the files from the SUR_250m folder in the zip file to an empty project folder.

3. Extract the files from the sur folder in the zip file to the C:\SourceData\sur folder. If it is not possible to use C:\SourceData as a base folder, choose another base folder (e.g. D:\SourceData) and make the GeoDMS software aware of your so called SourceDataDir in the menu option: Tools>Options. Start the installed GeoDMSGui software. A message box with the text: file not found is presented. Browse to the cfg subfolder of the of the chosen project folder. Select demo.dms and click Open. The Training Edition configuration is now loaded.
